Fractionation
Techniques for Microfluidic Scale Particle Separation
My primary focus involves the development of lab on chip
technology using microfluidics and polymeric materials. Pinched Flow
Fractionation and Thermal Flow Fraction techniques are being
studied to be used in the separation of cellular and molecular sized particles. In
addition to the microfluidics components, development of
an electrophoretic device using polymeric materials are being studied. We
hope to use the lab on chip technology to design a diagnostic tool that will
be used in the detection of diseases such as asthma, COPD, schizophrenia, and
cancer.
